Un-broken Roller Blades
My boy has been rollerblading all day.
He rolled out the door before 8 am and he’s been in the Florida sun as much as he can since.
That is until he came in today with a broken wheel and a missing piece.
He was teary eyed and it took some work to get the emotions in check and the disappointment into perspective.
It is amazing how the most beautiful day on vacation can be broken with some rollerblades.
The world is full of things that break and hearts that break at each sight of brokenness.
This is why God paints vivid pictures of His saving work building an unbroken world.
The Lord promises that the things His people build will be things they get to enjoy!
21 They will build houses and dwell in them;
they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
This promise could be missed when we live in a free, safe, and prosperous nation.
The next verse presses the promise of home.
22 No longer will they build houses and others live in them,
or plant and others eat.
Think about the work it takes to build a house.
Imagine the resources, the sweat, the time, the hopes and dreams.
One week before you move into your new place with your family everything is looking good.
You picked the right countertops, the faucets, the lights… the housewarming party is in two weeks!
As you pull up on move-in day, you find a group of armed men behind your front door! They tell you thank you for decorating. They love what you’ve done with the place and they’ll be taking it from here.
Your head is spinning when the police tell you they can’t do anything to help you.
How could this happen!?
Many have lived out this nightmare.
Puts broken rollerblades into perspective, doesn’t it?
From flat tires, to broken rollerblades, to confiscated homes… God provides hope for people in pain.
The Promise of God for His people is a place where the pains of a broken world will be no more.
God promises long life, fruitful labor, protected children… He promises a people blessed by the Lord will find a place filled with no more brokenness. Pain is replaced in His promise!
You are going to have something break on you soon. Hopefully it is as small as a rollerblade wheel.
When it breaks, prayerfully direct your heart toward God’s promise of that un-broken place. Your place in that place was prepared by Christ!
Keeping the land of God’s unbroken promises in view is essential for your endurance until the day you are promised you’ll build and enjoy!
For as the days of a tree,
so will be the days of my people;
my chosen ones will long enjoy
the work of their hands.
23 They will not labor in vain,
nor will they bear children doomed to misfortune;
for they will be a people blessed by the Lord,
they and their descendants with them.
