Keep Your Eyes on the Road to Glory
A loud hollow THUD shocked my attention back to the front of the station wagon.
One trash can was floating through the air while another… WHOOOMP…
bounced up on the windshield as we swerved off a front lawn and back onto the street.
As I drove my brothers to school at 17, I learned an important lesson:
You drive where you are looking.
I had looked back at my 9-year-old brother in the back seat and turned the wheel–taking us on our detour through several yards and demolishing a few trashcans.
You are headed where you are looking.
A spiritual war is raging for your attention.
The enemies of God know that you become what you behold.
The Spirit of God invites you to become what you behold as you fix your eyes on Jesus Christ in His glory!
18 And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 3:18
This verse describes a wonderful reality– beholding Jesus Christ brings the transforming power of Jesus Christ.
The opportunity to head where you are looking could not be more beautiful!
Fixing our eyes on Jesus Christ fuels our ever-increasing enjoyment of His glory in our own lives.
What are your eyes fixed on?
This verse confronts our screen time.
Parents ought to pause before putting their children’s eyes aimlessly in front of another screen.
Aimless attention becomes a lost opportunity!
Where we choose to fix our eyes impacts our entire lives.
I heard it said, “You become what you behold for ruin or restoration.”
Christians are called into the project of gazing at the glory of Christ for our good!
Don’t settle for lesser distractions!
