What would it look like for you to live a holy day?
Could you map out a day that is completely honoring to God?
Don't get ahead of yourself. You don’t need to plan 24 hours of heroic acts of goodness and holiness. You don’t need to clear your calendar today to find someone homeless to feed as you share the Gospel with them.
You don’t need to be an Evangelical Avenger to live a holy life. No suit of armor or cape is going to arrive in the mail after your 15th year of being a Christian.
You’ve been given the Spirit and you’ve been given the Word and Prayer– you can walk toward a holy life today!
Let’s try together… Take what’s already planned today on your calendar, then read Galatians 5:14,
14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
We know that the Words of God instruct us in living out love of God rightly.
God is Love and His Word instructs us in what “Love your neighbor” means.
Will you pray for the Spirit’s power toward God’s love for your neighbor over the next 24 hours?
What people will you encounter? What will it look like to display God’s love toward them?
How will you invest your energy and attention? How do God’s priorities impact these efforts?
What should you cancel or reduce?
What should you extend or expand?
Where are opportunities to adjust pointless or wasted moments into meaningful rest or intentional service?
Where is the flesh kicking against this process? What changes to your plans because of love are hardest for you to embrace?
We often think of holy living in such massive, unrealistic efforts that we protect ourselves from seeing the very real and very clear path to a life of love right in front of us.
You don't have to take massive vows and make spectacular efforts to live for God. Prayerfully calibrating your life by God’s love for your neighbor will power holy living.
