Conspiracy Theories
“I’m just asking questions…”
We’ve all seen the YouTuber or Tik Tok personality posturing as the innocent question asker. They’re going somewhere with their questions even if they pretend to be searching.
Asking questions is no problem at all. In recent years we’ve seen how fact can be stranger than fiction.
We ought beware of the Internet personality or in-person reality of someone always asking but never understanding.
Seeking wisdom is worthwhile. But not everyone asking questions is seeking wisdom!
Sometimes asking lots of questions is the sign of mocker, not a learner.
6 The mocker seeks wisdom and finds none,
but knowledge comes easily to the discerning.
Proverbs 14:6
Be careful who captures your attention and fills your ears. Paul warned Timothy of how false teachers would drag people into an ever-learning but never understanding spiral.
6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7 always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth.
2 Timothy 3:6–7
We should ask our questions with two audiences in mind– the other person and the Lord. We are asking the Spirit for wisdom as we interact with someone made in His image. We bow before the Lord as we examine complex situations.
A wise person directs most of their questions to the Lord and listens carefully to what He says. A fool asks questions without listening and leverages questions for his own agenda.
Are you praying as you are asking?
