Blame That Blessing
What is the last blessing you experienced?
Stop and think about it. Don’t go back to the “big blessings.”
Reflect on the last hour of your life–wherever you are reading this– and consider which things you experienced that someone else would treasure.
Texting with a loved one?
Walking freely and ably to the water fountain?
A snack?
This morning my 5-year-old stopped by the church building. He loves to race and we had a few good laps.
A few weeks ago, I couldn’t have run like that because of an injury. A few years from now, little boy races will be only a memory.
There is such beauty in naming even the tiniest blessings you can name.
But I’d invite you to go a step further.
Don’t merely name that blessing, blame that blessing.
Romans 5 meditates on the explosive impact of the gift of righteousness…
How much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!
Romans 5:15
Think about this Christian, every gift you can name can be blamed on Jesus Christ!
How else could sinners in hostility to God experience the kindness of God?
There is one Man to blame for every kindness from God in your life.
Scripture says this much but it so easily slips from our view!
20 For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him, the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.
2 Corinthians 1:20
I invite you to walk through your life like you would the newly renovated home of a friend. You’d notice the fixtures, the lights, and the flooring.
As you saw beautiful things, you’d say, “Did you do this or did someone do this work for you?”
At every turn and in every room, with joy, you can say, “Oh, I could never do that! This is all Jesus!”
