Are your arms tired?
Are your arms tired?
Last night at a standing room only Super Bowl party, I noticed a young woman was shaking her arm like it had fallen asleep.
Amidst the Doritos, guac, meatballs, cookies, etc. were friends and families finding any place they could to sit. People were leaning against walls, finding any place possible to talk with a friend. The crawling and toddling babies stumbled around while the older kids ran the place with nerf guns.
It was a blast but she wasn’t smiling in that moment–she grimaced in pain. I asked if she was ok.
“That baby gets heavy!” she replied.
She was not having a heart attack, just experiencing what everyone has– babies start to feel like a bag of concrete after about 5 minutes.
The biceps on a new mom are always well worked from picking up and putting down, from constant carrying.
Even the most loving humans in our lives get tired. Our God never wearies in carrying us.
As I read Psalm 68 this morning in my prayer time I was struck by the strength of the Lord.
“Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.”
Psalm 68:19
God’s arm never gets tired. The Lord is never grimacing and shaking out his arm. He loves to carry His children.
Your privilege in prayer is to cast yourself on the One who always has strength to carry you. The most energetic humans will grow tired and weary. The Lord never will. You can talk to Him. You can depend on Him. You can cry to Him.
He will carry you!
Will you take time today to pray? Will you take time to be carried by your loving Heavenly Father?
